Squid Platforms

The software is designed to operate on any modern Unix system, including: AIX, FreeBSD, HP-UX, IRIX, Linux, NeXTStep, OSF/1, Solaris, and SunOS. If you encounter any platform-specific problems, please let us know by sending email to squid-bugs@nlanr.net.

NetBSD

Hubert Feyrer notes that Squid compiles and runs on NetBSD/i386 and NetBSD/amiga.

SCO Unix

Walter Klomp notes That SCO Open Server systems also support Squid without any problems.

Linux

Michael Lupp has offered to make RPM's of the regular squid versions. You can find them on the Squid FTP mirror sites under pub/contrib/RPM-v1.1/. Please say ``danke'' to Michael if you use these! NOTE, if you want to rebuild an RPM with your own local libraries, you can just type:

	rpm --rebuild

The Debian GNU/Linux site includes packaged binaries of Squid. Check their list of Web Software Packages.

Intrep has some RPM's of Squid-2 available at http://home.earthlink.net/~intrep/linux/

MkLinux

Steve Pinel notes That MkLinux (PPC Linux) DR3 runs Squid nicely.

Solaris 2.5/x86, gcc 2.7.2

gcc's -O optimisation causes squid to coredump when requesting

    cache_object://hostname/info
Note, -O is normally selected by default from the configure script.

NextStep

Gerben Wierda has binary distributions of Squid for NEXTSTEP at ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/comp/next/Internet/.

OS/2 Warp

Peter Meerwald ported Squid 1.1.15 to the OS/2 Warp plattform using gcc and the EMX library. The archive Squid115b.zip (binaries and the patched source) is available from ftp-os2.nmsu.edu, or ftp.very.priv.at.
