How This Reference is Organized
Information in this Reference is organized into the following sections:
Introduction
The Introduction defines the Hayes product lines which use the Hayes
AT commands. Additionally, it describes who should use this Reference, explains
organization of the Reference and how to use it.
Basic Modem Operation
Provides an overview of modem operation through the telephone network.
This section also describes how the modem functions through its command
mode and online mode of operation.
Communication Options
Describes the synchronous and asynchronous transmission modes supported
by Hayes modems and includes a description of the AT commands related to
the transmission modes.
Basic Command Interface Syntax and AT Commands
Describes the basic operation of the modem command interface to the
Data Terminal Equipment (DTE). Also described are the extended commands
which are action or parameter commands for which a special syntax is used.
The section concludes with detailed descriptions of the AT commands available
in Hayes modems.
Result Codes
Presents the basic and extended Result Codes returned by Hayes modems
in response to commands. The Section includes both the numeric and verbose
codes.
S-Registers
Includes all S-registers defined for the Hayes modem lines. This section
defines Sregister functions, and syntax and evaluation rules. Some factory
settings and ranges are included here because they are almost universally
implemented with these values.
V.25bis Features
Describes the Hayes implementation of V.25bis and how it interacts with
the Hayes Standard AT command set.
V-series X.25 Communications
Includes definitions of the commands used for X.25 packet-switched communications,
PAD and National Parameters, and command listings for four PAD profiles.
FAX Functions
Describes the specifications for the features and performance of Hayes
facsimile modems based on Class 1 interface commands and responses. New
commands, Sregisters, and result codes for FAX are included.
Voice Features
Provides information about voice commands for record and playback and
VoiceView.
Modem Application Development
Provides suggestions for developing applications software using AT commands.
Troubleshooting Tips
Provides special environmental considerations and offers suggestions
for remedying problems in modem communications.
