Answering Process

The answering process causes the modem to answer a call. The process may be started by the A command, by turning DTR on, by the modem detecting a certain number of ring events, or by power going on in the dumb leased-line mode.

The answering process sets the speaker volume. If &Q2 or &Q3 is in effect, it turns off CTS. If &Q1 or &Q4 is in effect, and S0&gt0, then it turns off CTS. The modem then goes off-hook, turns on the OH LED and goes to the handshaking process (answer mode).
