Error Correction Considerations

When error correction is provided by the modem or the HDLC mode of AutoSync is provided, automatic rate re-negotiation, if enabled, is based on the current FER and obeys the following rules.

1  Attempt to shift to next lower speed if the current FER exceeds the threshold specified below.         

                                                                                                          

2  Attempt to shift to highest speed allowed by the signal quality and S109 if:                           

   1. no frame errors have occurred for at the current speed for at least 60s                             

   2. no previous attempt has been blocked by the other end                                               

   3. no previous attempt failed due to high FER or low signal quality.
