Establishing a Virtual Connection


The example log-on and results below present a successful attempt to establish a virtual connection.

Activity:
User dials CompuServe, connects, then issues CALL command to establish a virtual connection. Call is accepted.

Result:
Call is accepted. Depending on the network requirements, the modem returns the following:
CON <address><facility_codes>COM <user_data>

Note:
The data in upper case is sent to you; the data in angle brackets may or may not be sent to you.

Example:
User calls Telnet and issues CALL command to go online with CompuServe:

Log-on:

Enter: AT&Q5 S44=3 S46=6 S48=0 W1 DT 9,5550123 <CR>

Result: CARRIER 2400

PROTOCOL: X.25/LAPB

CONNECT 2400



Enter: CALL R-311020200202 <CR>

Result: CON COM: W2:2,P7:7,X 0277 COM
