8.9.2 fixes an accept() denial of service attack on Linux systems and has improved support for Berkeley DB 2.x, as well as other minor fixes.

8.9.1 contains mostly minor fixes as well as clarification of the LICENSE terms. (See the RELEASE_NOTES for details.) There is also a clarification of the LICENSE terms (licensing information).

8.9.0 updated sendmail to add anti-spam functionality, improved error reporting and a variety of maintenance upgrades.

8.8.6, 8.8.7, and 8.8.8 contain many mostly minor fixes -- see the RELEASE_NOTES for details.

8.8.5 fixes the buffer overflow problem described in CERT Advisory CA-97.05 that can give a remote attacker root access. It is a very important upgrade.

8.8.3 and 8.8.4 fix the ``HUP to smtpd'' root shell vulnerability described in CERT Advisory CA-96.24.

A note on release numbering: as of 8.8 the numbering changed slightly, starting with "8.8.0" instead of "8.8". The third number can be thought of as a patch level. When refering to "8.8" it means any patch level; 8.8.x means a specific patch level.
