Leased-Line Mode
The &L command enables the leased-line configuration. The modem sends
no answer tone when attempting to connect in the answer mode. The modem
dials no numbers when attempting to connect in originate mode. Any dial
digits or dial modifiers are ignored. If a leased-line connection fails,
the modem automatically retries the leased line.
The M command determines speaker behavior, and the value of S10 determines
loss-of-carrier timeout. KDS and MI/MIC signals are ignored in leased-line
operation. Because there is no ringing signal, autoanswer does not apply
to leased-line operation. S63 controls the leased-line transmit level. This
register is locked in online modes and in off-line mode unless unlocked
by the switch described in S63.
The &A command is ignored. Because no calls are dialed, blacklisting does
not apply to leased-line operation. Blacklisting may apply to dial backup
attempts. S30, the inactivity timer, is ignored in leased-line operation.
The two leased-line modes are dumb and smart.
